We accept collaboration on four of our six series. The Landscape is not one of them, and it will not be.
The reasoning is narrow
A category map states who is in a category and how mature each of them is relative to the others. That is a judgement about a group, made on behalf of a reader who is about to spend money.
A single funded box does not corrupt that box. It corrupts every other box on the map, because a reader now has to ask which ones were paid for and has no way to find out.
What that costs us
The Landscape is the series vendors most want to be in, which makes it the series they would most readily fund. Declining that is the point. A rule that costs nothing is not a rule, it is a preference.
So the terms are published, they are short, and they do not move: no participant funds a Landscape, and the exclusion list is printed on every map.
